We all know that search engines have been trying for years to decrease their reliance on links as a ranking factor. But they haven’t got there yet and I don’t necessarily see that happening in the next year or so. The content on your site should be organized in a logical way. This is not only good for SEO, it also helps visitors on your site find other related content easily. Another factor in determining the value of a link is the way the link is implemented and where it is placed. For example, the text used in the link itself (i.e., the actual text that a user clicks on to go to your web page) is also a strong signal to the search engines. Your target keywords should be in the H1 tag. Your H1 however can be different from the title tag. It doesn’t have to be – you won’t be penalised for having the same title tag and h1 tag for a web-page (after all, most CMS generate this automatically) – but varying the keyword phrasing of both can increase your chances of appearing for different search intents. Buying backlinks can and does work, however, there’s a substantial risk involved if you buy low quality ones and/or from people who openly sell them. If their website gets penalised, you’re in trouble too.

risk falling heavily down in the rankings and it can destroy much of
what you have spent time and money on creating.
