Does your site have little or duplicate (plagiarized) content?
In social search, content that has a social
connection to you in some way is prioritized.
A social connection could mean someone you
are linked to via Facebook, Twitter, or any other
major social network. Would you like to make it easier for search engines to understand what keyword(s) your blog should rank for? Audit your site using tools such as Google’s PageSpeed Insights or Pingdom’s speed test to quickly compile a list of options to help give your site a little more zip. You may even need to review your hosting service if it’s holding you back… . If your site has thousands or even millions of pages, hand-crafting description meta tags
probably isn't feasible. In this case, you could automatically generate description meta tags based on
each page's content. Standard engagement behaviours on SERP results, such as click-throughs and time on page, can be an indicator of freshness and relevance.
More about the pros and cons of backlink indexing
The more likely potential visitors are to think your site will provide an answer to their search query, the more traffic a page will gain. Search engines scan captions and metadata separately, so remember to think about how you have tagged and named your original media files too. SEO – an acronym that can strike fear into website owners! Why? Because having an attractive website is just a first step. Beauty is, as they say, in the eye of the beholder and your visitors will be looking for an attractive and informative web site. Search Engines, however look for different things. Many website owners neglect to spend the time analyzing how their page structure actually looks and works for the visitor. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could find out exactly which keywords your competitors are ranking for AND how much search traffic those keywords are bringing in?
Use Engaging Language for Effective SEO
Google Analytics is an intuitive and free measurement platform that gives you insight into all of your webpages. It all starts with a line of code that you put in the header of your website that will let you install a container of Google tags, that will give you visibility in your analytics Dashboard. An HTML sitemap (as opposed to an XML sitemap) is often mentioned as being useful for SEO. They certainly are if you use them wisely (and especially Bing seems to like them at times), but I like them even more for the fact that users like them a lot. The degree to which search engines rely on evaluating link neighborhoods is not clear, and links from nonrelevant pages are still believed to help the rankings of the target pages. Most SEO consults cover a local area. The problem with directories: A good directory’s intent is to categorize
the internet into different categories/subcategories, while providing links
to good websites in those categories. Although there are legitimate
directory websites, many were built solely for the purpose of building links
back to webpages without consideration of link quality. This is the wrong
way to build links. Google places importance on the amount your content is shared socially, they see this as a sign that you site has quality content. By sharing it on their social media people are effectively endorsing your content.
We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "Auditing an existing site is one of the most important tasks that SEO professionals encounter. SEO is still a relatively new field, and many of the limitations of search engine crawlers are nonintuitive." The structure of your URLs can also help search engines to better understand your website content. If
you can alter the URL so that, for example, it includes the name of your website, you should make use
of this. Don’t use hidden text or links on your website to optimize your site for search engines. Some webmasters will try to make text or links invisible to visitors but visible to search engine spiders. One way they do this is to use white text on a white background. Search engines can now easily spot this sort of behavior, so it will not help your site rank at all. The faster your site, the more Google will favor it. There’s a very useful tool from Google itself to check your site speed: Google PageSpeed Insights. This tool gives you an overview of what aspects need improvement to boost the speed of a particular page. If you are designing your website yourself and mess up the coding in your website, Google spiders won’t be able to read your site efficiently and this can hurt your rankings significantly.
Add more meta data
From the point of view of search engine optimization an entry in a business directory is important; it makes the website in question easier to find and creates an additional backlink. Without on page optimization of your content which talks about your website, there will be less chances of your website getting authority leading to, you missing out on traffic.
If you lack on-page optimization, there are less chances of you getting notice, which will again lead to low conversion rate. If you have covered the technical issues of a new website, you’ll have properly prepared your site for all the great content you’ll be adding. Your URL’s should include your main keywords, but make sure you keep them short and friendly. Try to limit the number of characters as much as possible. The number of referring individual domains linking to your website or webpage is a very important factor in Google’s algorithm.
If you are putting content on your own site, try to keep things fairly uniform. This can help you start building your own following and establish your own voice. Of course, that shouldn’t stop you from doing something that has more of a “shock factor.” Something a little more controversial can draw in big crowds, which translates to a lot of clicks and comments. Expect increased conversions, particularly those from visitors who arrived via organic search. Choosing a keyword-friendly domain name is crucial to the success of your SEO campaign. Search engines will index a domain name that is also part of the page title and website description faster than a domain name that bears no relation to the title of the site or content on the site. A local business competitor might not be your online
competitor — welcome to a bigger game of tug-of-war.
As you work to improve your SEO, it’s your ongoing job to
stay ahead of the competition and detect emerging rivals
as they climb the ranks. When launching a new website that replaces a previous version, use 301 Redirects to tell the search engines that your pages have moved. Doing so will retain your hard-earned Google Page Rank and your search engine positioning should stay more or less intact. If you do not use 301 Redirects when launching a new/replacement site, search engines will still have your old pages contained in their index, and both search engines and visitors seeking out your content will encounter broken pages when they try to visit your site. This will result in lots of 404 Page Not Found errors. When this happens, your search engine rankings will most likely drop.
